Being creative with your wording is important. Coming up with a phrase that expresses your thoughts that no one (that you know of) has used before has an immeasurable about of value. I love these moments too… in fact I live for them and will not hesitate to comment when I hear one… but I’m tired of my editing apps yelling at me with their bright red highlights because I’ve chosen to use a cliché… like I’ve broken some cardinal rule of writing. Let me live… let me embrace the past and use them where I see fit.
