A Poetry of Disappointment — I Became A Lifeless Twig

As I started on my journey as a seed,

Unaware of what life has to offer, has to present me.

I became acquainted with a ground so fertile,

As I saw all the blooming and lush meadows,

I knew I am destined to shine.

Only if I knew the way, I was throbbing inside-out.

So I studied the ground and one fine blissful day,

I planted myself in the ground.

And I waited…

I waited for the rains to wet my umbrella of soil,

I waited for winds and for sunshine,

To keep me going.

I waited and I waited for some days

Till I got a view of my first shoot that broke off my chest,

And I had roots that turned me into a vulnerable sapling.

I saw the world for the very first time, standing firm on the ground.

For the first time, the world didn't seem shaky.

And it felt like I was doing my part,

So I became charged and I began growing.

As the radiance shone upon my sap green shoots,

I remembered growing my first little version of stem,

The green stem was still in its birthing.

The fragile stem swivelled from right to left,

As the gusts of wind brushed me in delicate tandem.

I remember wanting to be firm and stable,

And so I grew myself beautiful intricate leaves,

And so then I grew even bigger leaves to add to my glories.

And I waited further, I thought now the view was better,

As I gazed through the wisest tall stout trees.

I felt my near ones mocking me,

I lacked flowers, the coloured perfection.

And so I did my best and fought those summer vibes.

To grow a tiny bud,

I stretched myself to the best and blossomed.

And Oh! so happy I was,

I blossomed and I looked at myself in all pride and glory,

And I knew I have become perfect then.

I looked around,

And everyone praised my presence, my coloured fresh full flowers,

Were swaying and gasping with vanity!

I held my head high,

And I looked at the world like I owned it.

And I curved a grin to the seed underlying,

Who I knew wanted to be me, like me…

To be continued…
